Austria Ski Trip – Spring Break 2016

Last month we had our annual ski trip to Austria. This fantastic trip to Zell am See has been running for 27 years and is as popular as ever. The trip is open to novice/experienced skiers and accomplished snowboarders.

All the pupils involved worked hard to improve their skiing before the trip, under the guidance of Miss Guild at Bearsden Ski Centre and Xscape. This enabled them to make the most of the amazing, varied ski runs on offer on Schmittenhöhe and Kaprun.

Miss Guild is now starting to organise next year’s trip, April 2016.  The group travels by bus and stays in a small village, Bruck which is located 5 minutes from the gondola to the slopes. The trip is outstanding value for money and includes all travel, ski equipment, ski instruction, lift pass, insurance and 3 meals a day. Pupils will get 2 ski lessons per day from a mixture of local ski instructors and qualified adults on the trip.

All the pupils need to bring is a small amount of spending money for presents and ‘the need for speed!’

Although the main aim of this holiday is to ski as much as possible –for up to 6 hours each day!- I must emphasise that absolutely no previous ski-ing experience is necessary. In fact, we take a number of total beginners to Austria with us every year.

All beginners will be given at least 6 lessons on the artificial ski slope at Bearsden before we go to Austria (not included in price – around £6 a lesson). By the middle of the holiday everyone should be able to enjoy ski-ing down most of the long, gentle ski runs in Zell.

The cost of the holiday is £595 (with an upper limit of £620 to allow for changes in the exchange rate)

This cost includes everything the pupils need;

·         Half-Board in the excellent ‘Hotel Lukashansl’ in Bruck.

·         Lunch of hot main dish and soft drink taken in a beautiful mountain restaurant.

·         Use of good-quality skis, boots, poles and helmets for 6 days.

·         Full 6-day lift pass giving unlimited access to all cable cars, gondolas, chairlifts and ski-tows.

·         6 days of magnificent ski-ing with first-class instruction provided by Bruck Ski School

·         Evening activities such as a Karaoke Evening, Crazy Golf, Scottish Night, Quiz night, our Prize-giving Ceremony and a traditional Austrian Folk night.

I understand £595 is a lot of money, however it is a very good price for a ski holiday and is paid up in instalments over the year.

If you wish more information your son/daughter should collect an information sheet from

Miss Guild in the Maths department.
