International Day

Hillpark’s International Day was a great success giving staff and pupils an opportunity to appreciate the fantastic diversity we have in our school.

There was similar enthusiasm for the range of food to be sampled: samosa from Bangladesh; perogi from Poland and a massive chocolate cake from Iran. Thanks to local restaurants Curry on the Hill, the Jasmine One and Toni’s pizzeria and of course to all the parents and carers who donated food.

The event was organised for the most part by senior pupil Suely Mateus and was attended by representatives from the Scottish Women’s Convention, our Chaplaincy team and local MSP James Dornan as well as Mary’s Meals, for whom £300 was raised on the day.

At Hillpark we believe that our pupils should not leave their home culture at the door when they come to school. Instead, we recognise that our diversity is strength to be enjoyed and learned from.
