World Autism Day

Following the success of last year’s celebrations, the Language and Communication Resource organised a number of events to help celebrate World Autism Day on Thursday 2nd April. The theme of our whole school non uniform day was ‘Wear Blue’ and this raised £227.19 for Scottish Autism.

The LCR staff worked hard to raise awareness of Autism throughout the school. Lessons were delivered in PSHE and displays were put up around the building.

We held a coffee morning in the LCR which was well attended by staff who were also unable to resist our Tombola and hamper raffle. Prizes for this were kindly donated by parents, staff and hairdressers – ‘Complete’ and ‘SEI’ both in Shawlands . Staff and parents also donated and baked beautiful cakes which were a welcome treat at the end of term. Miss Burns in the Drama Department was the lucky winner of our Build A Bear by correctly guessing the time that the bear was ‘born’. Money from this morning was raised to support the social development of LCR pupils.

It was a very successful day and we look forward to 2nd April 2016!
